Arsenal Sign Drogba. And Now They Will Win The League

The New Drogba

Arsenal have signed Drogba. He scored a hat trick today, and he also scored 2 belters against Tottenham last week. More to the point, Adebayor is fast becoming the new Drogba. Last week Adebayor, who is known as ‘Adecanthitthebarndoor’ across forums, scored an absolute scorcher and turned in a sensational performance this week.

After the press conference Adebayor said, ‘The manager believes we can win the league and this year we believe we can too’. His tongue slipped. It must of. Because no other player would reveal such a statement, he’s just told the gooners across the world the reason to Arsenal’s poor form over the past couple of seasons; the players didn’t believe in themselves. This season Fabregas, Toure, Hleb, Adebayor and the rest have all sat down whilst on a night out together and Cesc has said, ‘Listen guys, we can win it this year. I actually think we can win it this year’. Maybe not in those exact words, but he has said it. How do I know? Because I do. Well I don’t, but I like to think I do.

Players are playing without pressure and are enjoying their football, and I can’t help but think the reason to this is Henry’s departure. Henry was bossy, arrogant and impatient. Yet he was so bloody good. I’m going to stick my kneck out and say Arsenal will win the league. Liverpool will not,

Rafa has bought well for once, but the team needs to gel.

Rafa at Valencia was a rotating manager.

Rafa at Liverpool is a rotating manager.

However, he needs to understand there is a right time to rotate. Rotation is good, but only at the correct time, not when players are scoring and are playing well. He is stubborn, just like Arsene was 2 years ago when he kept insisting the team to play passing football without many crosses or long shots. Arsene had so much belief in his own tactics he didn’t listen to any critics. Now he realises it was a mistake. Teams have learned how to play against the fast flowing football, therefore towards the end of last season he changed the tactics. He started to cross and let players shoot from distance. It has worked. Rafa is also not listening to the critics about his rotation, but he has so much belief that it will work he keeps rotating. In 2 years time he will look back and say ‘I rotated too much’. Mistakes are things that people realise in the future, not now. Liverpool’s team need to gel together. Torres will be good this season, but next season he will be even better. Liverpool will not win the league this season,

Liverpool will win the league next season. Read more »

The Demise of Jose Mourinho

Three seasons ago Jose Mourinho had just completed one of the hardest feats of the modern game- surprising the world after helping Portuguese club FC Porto win the Champions League; today he is without a job. Despite winning two Premier League titles, two Carling Cup trophies and an FA Cup trophy in his time with Chelsea Football Club, there was always speculation that Mourinho would leave one way or another eventually- his relationship with Abramovich was rocky, to say the least. Although Mourinho had won the trophies Abramovich craved, he did not do it in the style the owner wanted. Envious eyes were cast over London neighbours Arsenal after their glorious unbeaten season, but it seemed that Abramovich was happy to allow Mourinho to stay at the helm as long as the trophies came in- although those close to the Russian businessman hinted that he wanted the Champions League most of all.

After the sensational news emerged last night that Mourinho had left the club by mutual consent, many football fans were not surprised. It seemed as if this moment had been coming for quite some time, ever since Abramovich apparently refused the signing of Israeli defender Tal Ben Haim in January- a decision that may well have cost them the title. Since then, it appears that Abramovich’s extravagant transfer spending has ended, with Chelsea’s sole big buy in this transfer window being Florent Malouda from Lyon for around £13.5 million. The club were in for Daniel Alves, but Abramovich refused to shell out the fee that Sevilla wanted- meaning that Mourinho got Barcelona fringe player Julio Belletti instead; hardly a like-for-like swap.

Tevez at West Ham was world class. Tevez at Man Utd is not.

Tevez at West Ham was world class. Tevez at West Ham gave the West Ham Fans something they had missed for years; he excited them and made them feel like they had a diamond every other team wanted.

Tevez at Man Utd is not world class. He is average. But then again he is only 6 games into his Man Utd career. He will come good, but not as good as he was at West Ham. Carlos is a player that shines in a team where he is the best player, at West Ham he was this. He was better than any of their players. He controlled their attacking play and he made every goal. At Man Utd, Rooney, Ronaldo and Scholes are better. Giggs is ageing but he is on par with Tevez. Therefore Tevez isn’t noticed as much.

However, for me to sit here at 17.30 in my work office and say Tevez is rubbish is obviously not true. I have not said Tevez is no good. I said he isn’t noticed as much. This is because he is being played out of position. I know, it’s ludicrous, a striker is being played out position, yet he is still being played as a striker. How does that work? Because now strikers have different categories; there are attacking midfielders, fox in the box, a player that plays behind the striker and a striker that does all of them. Tevez is the fox in the box at the moment because United are in an injury crisis, but in truth he is the player that does it all.

My name is Ramin and I Am An Alcoholic….

Sorry wrong audience! Champions league has started, and all the excitement has come back. The talk with friends all week has pretty much been about the Champions League, better known as the trophy Chelsea have failed to win even after spending £350m+, but that’s another debate. Who will win this year’s champions league?

My friend Darren said- ‘Chelsea… Mourinho knows he needs it so he will do his best to win it’

My friend Pete said- ‘Man Utd… Fergie wants to win it one more time before he retires’

And my friend Behfar said- ‘Real Madrid… they have bought sensibly for once and it will come to aid them this year in the champions league’

The truth is, nowadays no-one knows. Apart from me. This year no ‘surprise package’ will win it… either Real Madrid or Chelsea will win it. Why? Because they will. More seriously, Mourinho is edging closer to being sacked by Roman. Roman has done something this season we have never seen him do; walk out after Chelsea let in a goal. This was done after Villa scored their second goal at Villa Park a few weeks ago. Read more »

Why Arsenal Should be Happy to be out of the Limelight

While the Gunners are currently second in the table, level on points with leaders Liverpool albeit with an inferior goal difference, nearly no one apart from their fans have even mentioned their names with regards to who will be competing for the title come May 2008. Liverpool will finally do it is the cry, or that Manchester United and Chelsea will both recover from their shaky starts to reclaim their places at the top. The young Arsenal side is written off as being too youthful, too experienced- how can they do it when the average age of their first team is so low? Read more »
